MEET ELANA KAHN

BIO

Elana Kahn is director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, which works to create a just community by convening and mobilizing the Jewish community through education, advocacy, social justice and support for Israel. She is currently chair of the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee and on the governing committee of the Lux Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology. She is among the leadership task force of the Community Coalition for Quality Policing. She serves on the board of We are Many: United Against Hate, Tikkun B’Yachad: Repairing Together, and a judge of the David Twersky Journalism Award. An award-winning writer and editor, she was formerly editor of The Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle and president of the American Jewish Press Association. In 2017, she earned a master’s degree in Jewish Professional Studies from Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership. She has spoken locally and internationally on a wide range of topics, including anti-Semitism, hate crimes, and how to build a just community.
